Who we are?

The Renewable Energy Association of Sierra Leone (REASL) is a trade association that is focused on the development of an efficient and thriving renewable energy market in Sierra Leone.

REASL was formed in 2016 as a direct response to the Energy Africa Compact, a UK aid initiative that partners with government and donors to accelerate energy access through a market based approach. . REASL is an association limited by guarantee and registered under the Sierra Leone Companies Act No 5 of 2009.

What we do

Promote and create awareness:

Building demand on renewable energy as well as providing information on renewable energy markets, market actors and technologies by using mass communication tools to raise awareness.

Networking, Business Linkages and Coordination, to facilitate and encourage synergies between various activities e.g; programs, projects and/ or initiatives in the renewable energy field.

Creating an Enabling Environment-Lobbying Policies:

Assist Government and the industry in policy formation, standards, taxation etc on all issues related to the renewable energy technologies.

Research for purposes of informing advocacy and lobbying activities and to collect information on renewable energy products and markets.

Mobilize resources for participating in Public Private Partnerships for promoting and development of renewable energy projects.

Training and capacity building:

Collaborate with technical vocational and tertiary institutions to provide a training curriculum and certification activities in the renewable energy field and accreditation of renewable energy products and service providers by collaborating with tertiary institutions.

Industry related workshops with members that will focus on capacity building of member companies.

Quality assurance and consumer protection:

Promote professionalism in the industry by encouraging the adoption of good engineering practices and standards such as quality, design, installation, maintenance and excellent customer services amongst its members.
